Breaking Strength

Product Description

The Personal Escape rope condenses down into your pack and is so light that you won't even know it's there, until you're psyched that it is!

MAXIM has created a 7mm Personal Escape Rope. Its stiff 100% nylon construction is engineered for use as a haul line or tag line as well as a small rappel rope for lengthening your raps or as an emergency rappel line when you need to bail out.

MAXIM has engineered a 7mm Personal Escape Rope made of 100% nylon. Its stiff construction resists kinking and hanging up which makes it perfectly suited as a haul line, tag line or small rappel line for emergency rappels. None of these uses would be possible if it were not for its super lightweight and small size. The Personal Escape rope condenses down into your pack and is so light that you won’t even know it’s there, until you’re psyched that it is!

Our amazing MAXIM teammates swear by this personal escape rope for hauling bags on big walls and as a tag line for lengthening your raps on long multi-pitch routes. This rope has been part of many of the legendary sends you have read about. Whether you need it for lengthening your raps or as a personal escape rappel line when you need to bail, you need this cord!

Key Features:

  • Super Light weight rope
  • Resists kinking and hanging up
  • High breaking strength
  • Compact and easily packable
  • Perfect as an emergency “bail out” rappel line
  • Twill Pattern Technology (TPT) Sheath

What is Twill Pattern Technology (TPT)?

MAXIM’s Twill Pattern Technology (TPT) is a special cover design resulting in a twill pattern (one over one) or weave. Due to this design the cover has a smaller profile in cross-section than plain pattern ropes - the more traditional-looking climbing rope cover (two over two). A result of the smaller profile is improved abrasion resistance over abrasive surfaces, as well as significantly reduced drag in carabiners and mechanical devices. That’s why climbers use TPT-ropes for long rope lengths where drag should be reduced.

Stiff and skinny

Have used only twice and needs a bit of break in period to literally get kinks out. Rappelling is smooth and fast with that diameter and loving the low stretching of a static cord…will try storing in rope bag rather than coiling at this point.

gets it done

So light, but handles amazingly well, considering. Despite having 265' in canyons, it didn't knot or bunch up, always easy to pull. If you have static only uses, I recommend. Wish it had a middle mark but you can take care of that. I use it with an Edelrid MicroJul belay device and the two work great together.
